I am a registered Health Psychologist based in Auckland and have over a decade of experience in the field of Health Psychology.
My experience ranges from clinical work (seeing patients 1:1 or in groups), training and seminars, health psychology research and creating and implementing online psychology/wellbeing programmes.
To help people ‘thrive’ is at the core of my psychological approach. My aim is to work with people to help them to get the most out of life, enhance their wellbeing (both physical and mental) and help people live well.
I am passionate about helping people who are managing a health condition. Whether it be to help people adjust to, and accept, a health diagnosis or injury, managing the psychosocial impacts of living with a health condition, and/or helping people manage their health in a meaningful way. I also have expertise in helping people work towards general health goals. For example, bariatric surgery for weight loss, smoking cessation, or simply wanting to eat better or move more.
Alongside this, I am experienced in helping people improve their mental wellbeing in general. Conditions such as anxiety and depressed mood are on the rise and more of us are living with the crippling effects of feeling anxious, stressed, and/or feeling down. The good news is that very good treatments exist to help manage these conditions, reduce the impact they have, and get people back doing the things they love.
My therapy approach is brief and targeted (usually around 4-6 sessions).
The most common therapies that I use are Self-compassion, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. However, therapy is not “one size fits all” and I will tailor my approach to suit individual needs. As such, I can also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, or any number of behaviour change techniques.
I take a very warm and empathetic approach with my clients. I like people to feel validated and heard in my sessions, and I always make sure people leave with hope that there is a better way forward.

Dealing with a diagnosis or living with a health condition can be really hard. My expertise is helping people to deal with a medical diagnosis (or a diagnosis of a loved one), managing treatment (including side effects), managing the mental-toll of dealing with a health condition, and helping you to keep doing the things you love.
I can help you rehabilitate from a health condition, injury, or surgery. My specific focus is on managing the stress associated with these events, and helping you make steps to getting back to 'normal'.

I have particular experience in helping people undergoing bariatric surgery. Whether it is help with decision making around surgery, preparing for surgery, or recovering from surgery. When you are able to work on the psychology of food and behaviour change, this can enhance how well you cope with, and manage, your surgery.
As a mother of three, I intimately understand the challenges of parenting! It is really normal to struggle with parenting at times or generally feel burnt-out (especially after years of Covid-19 lockdowns!). Talking your challenges through and learning some simple techniques can make all the difference.
