Absolutely! I have good experience and knowledge in areas of general psychology - such as anxiety, stress, or depression. You will find a good break-down of my speciality areas in the 'services' section.
I typically use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - which is a fantastic, and well validated, therapy choice. However, therapy is not "one size fits all" so I tailor my approach depending on the presenting problem. For example, behavioural techniques such as deep breathing, or movement, are wonderful for managing high stress.
During our current pandemic setting (Red light) I am only offering video-calls. In person sessions will only start back once it is safe to do so.
I understand that some people will find video tough, but rest-assured I can still provide you with a quality service over video!
You don't need to sign-up for anything! In the first session, I take the time to get to understand what is going on for you, and what you would like help with. From there, I can provide feedback on what therapy I think is going to work for you, and how many sessions we might need. I usually engage in brief therapy so around 4-6 sessions.
Please free-text 1737 if you need immediate support (in NZ). Otherwise a crisis line, or your family doctor.
I am very happy for self-referrals (i.e. you do not need another health professional to refer you to see me). However, my speciality is for people aged 16 and older and for 1:1 therapy (so not couples counselling).
